Practice Punnett Squares with SpongeBob & the Gang: If you have a unit on genetics, this is a must have as part of your lesson plans. The worksheets were created by Tracy and posted on her website, ScienceSpot.net .

Objectives: students will be able to create and solve Punnett Squares based on word problems.

Lesson Materials:

  1. Google Slides: Guided lesson with answers fo the SpongeBob Genetics worksheets
  2. Worksheet pdf: Bikini Bottom Genetics – part 1
  3. Worksheet pdf: Bikini Bottoms Genetics – part 2

I created a Google Slides presentation for my 7th graders to help them set up, solve, and analyze Punnett squares. As a class, we worked on the first few problems together. Then, students worked with a partner and self checked their work using the Google slides. For homework, they were to finish the problems and self check using the Google slides. In class the next day, we reviewed some of the problems to check for understanding.

  2. I, too, have been using this for years. Liz, I can’t begin to tell you how grateful I am to find it in an editable slideshow (with answer keys, just WOW!). Amping it up as a PearDeck on Saturday morning – can hardly wait for Monday morning!
