Adopt a City Lesson 4 – Creating Postcards
Objectives: Students will learn more about their adopted city and country by researching important economic, historical, cultural, and geographical facts and create a visual representation to display what they have learned.
Google Slide Deck (View Only Link) – make a copy to edit and use with your students.
REQUIRED FACTS: Must fit on one Google Slide and include:
- Name of City & Country
- Language(s)
- 2-3+ PICTURES of the city and surroundings
- City population & when was it founded?
- Latitude ºN/ºS and Longitude ºE/ºW
- Time Zone
- Your Name
Additional Facts: Remember you can use words and pictures – Choose any 3+ additional topics to add to your postcard:
- Biome – Rainforest, Taiga, Tundra, etc…
- Animals in the surrounding natural habitat
- Avg rainfall/snowfall for the year
- Avg temperature range for the year
- Natural disasters? Earthquakes, Volcanoes, Hurricanes, Tornadoes, etc
- Crops/Animals for agriculture
- Industry/Exports/Mining
- Type of Government & Country Flag
- Historical events or fun & interesting facts about your city
How to set up your Google Slide
- You will be assigned a slide number .
- You will edit and design your assigned slide to showcase your information via text and images.
- You can use any fonts, colors, sizes, text boxes, & backgrounds of your choice as long as it is easy to see and read.
- Be creative! This a visual interpretation of your research and will be displayed.
