Puzzle template: Geometric Puzzle Template (pdf)

Students can create their own Geometric, or Tangram-like, puzzles. A classic tangram has 7 pieces (link), but with this template, students can make their own puzzles with as many pieces as they would like to use.

In the sample photos above, I created a puzzle with 12 pieces. After students have made their own puzzles, they can trade puzzles and try to solve them.

When coloring in the puzzle, color the reverse side after cutting the pieces apart. You can also use handout as a cutting template – glue the template onto a piece of construction paper or foam then cut out the pieces. You can also number the pieces on the paper side so you have the answer if needed.

  1. Love your activities, they will be a great help as I return to the classroom as a long term sub after being retired for three years.
